Trauma & You
Why is it crucial to address trauma in our bodies and mind system?
We often associate trauma with severe events like rape, abuse, or war. However, everyday experiences can also accumulate and cause significant distress..
However, a wide range of daily occurrences, often dismissed in our high-stress lives, can have a significant traumatic impact.
Here are some examples:
Have you ever experienced any of the following:
Broken a bone?
Undergone surgery?
Had dental work done (e.g., tooth extraction, root canal)?
Lost a loved one suddenly?
Gone through a divorce?
Received a frightening diagnosis?
Been involved in a car accident?
Discovered infidelity in a relationship?
Received negative news?
These events can significantly impact your energy and physical well-being, sometimes to the point of hindering your ability to function normally.
"I've never experienced trauma!"
You might think, "I've never been in a war zone, assaulted, or robbed. I've never had a break-in or been physically harmed. So, what's the big deal?"
Do you have any difficulty recalling traumatic experiences?
Can you remember a specific instance when:
A significant figure in your life (such as a teacher, parent, sibling, or peer) publicly humiliated or embarrassed you by criticising, scolding, or making fun of you in front of others?
A promise that was crucial to your well-being or happiness was broken, leaving you feeling disappointed, betrayed, or abandoned?
You experienced such intense emotional reactions while watching thrillers or horror movies that you physically responded (e.g., jumping, covering your eyes, or feeling a surge of adrenaline) to the on-screen events?
These experiences, while perhaps less dramatic than those typically associated with trauma, can still have a significant impact on your emotional and psychological state.
HAS ANYONE EVER…
Called you ugly or stupid?
Told you you were filthy, worthless, or sinful?
Treated you differently (negatively) due to your gender or sexual orientation?
Falsely accused you of having an affair?
Been outright mean to you or bullied you?
"Why would I ever want to remember these things?"
It might seem preferable to put these experiences behind you. However, your body's cells retain memories of traumatic events. Suppressing these thoughts, memories, or feelings can lead to unexpected and potentially harmful emotional outbursts or behaviours.
TRAUMA MUST BE CLEARED!
Having painful memories seated in your actual cellular structure dims your energy. Opportunities and challenges you might have been excited about facing suddenly become insurmountable obstacles.
And they build upon themselves, until you find yourself becoming more and more afraid to step out, stand up for yourself, speak up and live a passionate, fulfilling life.
What opportunities in life do you avoid because your fear numbs you out, or keeps you in anger or fear, rather than doing what you know it takes to attain the results you want?
Have you been able to get out in public and tell people about your passion, your company or your business? Or do you hope that, now that you have a wonderful website, you won’t have to do much else?
Have you been able to bring in as much money as you want? Or does your father having told you that of course you’ll fail at business keep you from being successful?
What happens if shock & trauma aren’t cleared from your system?
Did you know that chronic stress can significantly impair cognitive function? When your body and mind are overwhelmed, you may struggle to:
Think clearly: Formulate thoughts or concentrate.
Remember: Recall information or experiences.
Be creative: Generate new ideas or solutions.
The effects of stress can vary widely, from mild symptoms like a foggy or confused mind, discomfort, and irritability to severe conditions like an inability to function or even catatonia.
